Gravels and Rocks Available in Different Landscape Supply Houses

This site has 3 galleries

There are many gravel mulches available for the landscape, coming in many different colours and sizes. A mulch is something that covers the ground and is usually about 2" to 3" thick. Gravel mulches initially are expensive but there is no extra cost. Bark, cone, or grass mulches (organic mulches) are usually cheap but need topping up after 3 years and absolutely by 5 years. There are 3 galleries. Double click on each picture to increase the size. The name will appear in the above name window.

The gravels come from all over Canada and the United States. When putting gravel down you should use a landscape fabric except around plant material. If you put gravel and fabric around the roots, the plant can get water but not enough oxygen. The plant will either be stunted or will turn yellow early in the season.

For cleaning you will need to have a blower or an outdoor vacuum to pick up the leaves in fall.
