Gazania rigens - Treasure Flower

 

Preferences:

A South African perennial treated as an annual. 6" to 12" tall; Low mat forming

Plant in full sun, with well drained light sandy soil. They tolerate drought and wind well and prefers hot summers. Does poorly in heavy wet soils.

Cultural Practices:

Propagation: Sow on March 20 at 16 - 21 degrees C, for 7 - 14 days.

Culture: Excellent for hot dry areas although expensive to use. Nice in patio pots for hot dry areas.

Landscape Value:

Common Series: Daybreak (3" flowers, compact plant) Mini-Star, Talent mix and Jupiter are some other varieties.
