Stachys byzantina - Lamb's Ears

Lamiaceae, Labiatae

Preferences:

An Iranian perennial that is 6" - 12" with a spread of 2'; a groundcover. Lamb's ears prefer full sun, with very well drained soil of moderate fertility. They need little care.

Cultural Practices:

Propagation: Barely covering, sow seeds at 18 - 21C up to 30 days. Clump division in spring.

Culture: The plant grows very quickly and a large space should be left for it to expand. The flowering spikes can look messy and often are trimmed back. Every now and again, though, the winter will kill 75% of the plant. An interesting thing is the scent of the flowers, they smell like bubble gum.
